About the Project
Motion Math’s mission is to help kids find delight in intellectual challenge. We take the central concepts of K-6 math and turn them into engaging games, and turn gameplay data into actionable formative assessment data with our efficacy platform. Founded by engineers and educators from Stanford School of Education’s Learning, Design, Technology program, Motion Math’s suite of nine games has received rave reviews from expert educators such as Jo Boaler and Dan Meyer, over 3.8M downloads, and numerous awards, including sixParents’ Choice Awards and a Serious Play Gold Medal. The first efficacy for a tablet educational app examined Motion Math: Fractions; the published research found the game improved test scores 15% and attitudes towards fractions by 10%. Supported by NewSchools Venture Fund, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Noyce Foundation, we’ve been featured in PBS’s NewsHour, Time, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and the New York Times.
