Empowerment of Marginalized Groups by Education

About the Project

Empowerment of Marginalized Groups is a project targeted at positively impacting the lives of marginalized groups through learning experience. The target groups include women, youth and children residing in slums and bearing the greatest brunt of social exclusion. Learning programs are tailored to meet the needs of the respective groups. The motto of the learning model is “tujengane”, meaning “building one another”. Each target group is facilitated differently and headed by an elder from the church leadership. The facilitators are sourced from church volunteers and friends of the church. Once the participants have completed their session, the talented ones are identified and appointed to facilitate the next participants, and son on. This practice is used particulary for the youth and women’s groups.
