About the project
This project is one of the 2023 WISE Awards finalists.
The ELIFE program aims to build 10 technology centers dedicated to Tunisian youth in the ten most marginalized and disadvantaged regions of the interior of Tunisia (Siliana, Bèjà, Le Kef, Kairouan, Djerba, Sidi Bouzid, Gafsa, Tozeur, Gabes, Jendouba).
The purpose of these centers is to upgrade the graduates through a dedicated training program, which will increase their chances of finding a long-term job. Besides the training in the IT Fields ELIFE centers provides support for regional entrepreneurs through a dedicated incubation program and also fosters culture dissemination through the organization of various events (Hackathons, concerts, meetings with companies, movies projections, etc.)
4 ELIFE centers are already operational (Siliana, Béja, Le Kef and Djerba). Since their opening in 2019 more than 100 events were organized, more than 15000 youth (between 19 and 29 years old) have benefited from the centers’ programs (training, incubation, events). The centers have participated in a real shift of the urban character of the region where they implemented as they became a sort of destination for several youth seeking a training, a support program to launch their project or simply a cultural activity that interests them. It also created a place where companies can find employees from a pool of IT talents trained in the centers.
ELIFE is the only impactful project focusing mainly on the interior marginalized regions of Tunisia by providing a top-notch infrastructure (ELIFE Techno-hub) for the youth to:
- Help them maximize their chances to integrate the labor market by providing them with a dedicated training
- Support them to launch their own projects
- Hone and refine their skills by exposing them to expositions, hackathons, encounters with
companies, etc.
ELIFE is partnering with regional NGOs to maximize its impact, in fact more than 40% of the events are organized by partner NGOs.
