Stefaan Vande Walle

Stefaan Vande Walle is the Global Strategic Education Advisor at VVOB – education for development. VVOB, established in 1982, partners with governments to strengthen education systems and improve learning outcomes for all children.

Stefaan has over two decades of experience in education and development, providing policy advice, research, and technical assistance to governments and organizations worldwide. He has worked extensively with schools, ministries, and partners in Cambodia, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Malawi, with a focus on foundational learning, teacher professional development, school leadership, and evidence-based education reform.

At VVOB, Stefaan plays a central role in shaping and initiating strategic initiatives, ensuring high-quality delivery and learning. His work emphasizes Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approaches and structured pedagogy in the early grades, supporting ministries and partners to design scalable solutions that improve literacy and numeracy outcomes.
