Youth Advocate

Shaikha Al-Hemaidi is a graduate student in the Master’s program in Intercultural Communication at Hamad Bin Khalifa University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Linguistics with a minor in Spanish from Qatar University. Fluent in Arabic, English, and Spanish, Shaikha’s academic and professional interests lie at the intersection of language, education, and culture. Her research explores linguistic identity, multilingualism, and educational equity, with a focus on sociolinguistics in the GCC.

Beyond academia, Shaikha is deeply engaged in youth advocacy and educational development. As a Youth Advocate with the Education Above All Foundation, she works to promote access to education for marginalized communities and has moderated high-profile discussions with international figures, including a session with UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese. She also served as Head of the Ideation Committee for the Empower Youth Conference and represented Qatar at the 26th and 27th United Nations Youth Assemblies, serving as a delegate and later as a steering committee member for the Qatari delegation.

Her work has been published on Language on the Move, where she examined the question “Is Arabic Under Threat on the Arabian Peninsula?” Shaikha continues to contribute to academic and public conversations on language, culture, and youth empowerment through her research, writing, and public engagement.
