Rahmatullah Arman
Teach for Afghanistan
CEO & Founder
Rahmatullah Arman is the Founder and CEO of Teach For Afghanistan — the country’s largest youth-led education movement — and Friends of Teach For Afghanistan (FTFA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization registered in Delaware, USA.
Born and raised in Afghanistan, Arman has served in senior leadership roles across both government and non-profit sectors. He has worked across all provinces, gaining deep grassroots experience and implementing impactful local and global education models in one of the world’s most challenging environments. Internationally, he has traveled to more than 25 countries, spoken at global conferences, led high-level sessions, and engaged actively in international movements and networks.
He has taught in Afghan universities and has led Teach For Afghanistan for over a decade, remaining closely connected to classrooms, children, youth, and the communities the organization serves. Arman holds an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in international relations.
A globally recognized activist for women’s rights, education rights, and Afghan civic rights, he is also a respected analyst on Afghan affairs — particularly education. He is the author of There Is a Tomorrow, and his articles have been published in leading Afghan and international outlets.
Under Arman’s leadership, Teach For Afghanistan has supported more than 140,000 Afghan children — over 75% of whom are girls — strengthened more than 100 schools, and graduated over 500 highly talented Afghan women and men who now serve as leaders in their communities.
Arman continues to advocate for equitable access to education for all Afghan youth — girls, boys, women, and men — regardless of age, gender, or background.
