Professor Sam Meekings

Dr. Sam Meekings is an Associate Professor of Creative Writing at Northwestern University in Qatar. His latest book is Wonder and Loss: A Practical Memoir for Writing about Grief (Bloomsbury, 2026). He researches the intersections of trauma and writing and holds a PhD in Creative Writing from Lancaster University. His novels include Under Fishbone Clouds (2011, described as “a poetic evocation of the country and its people” by the New York Times), The Book of Crows (2012), and The Afterlives of Dr. Gachet (2018).
