Mónica Retamal Fuentes is a Chilean entrepreneur and social innovator with over two decades of experience in technology and digital transformation. Since 2015, she has led Fundación Kodea, which she founded to drive digital empowerment across Latin America, promoting digital talent development, inclusive technological growth, female empowerment in STEM, early-stage innovation, and the integration of computer science in education.
Mónica has been a technology entrepreneur since 1999 and has successfully led companies focused on internationalization, particularly toward the North American market. Beyond Kodea, she serves as Chile’s representative at the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), is a Board Member of Nisum Latam, and contributes to several advisory bodies, including ChileMujeres and ProChile’s Innovation Council, as well as serving as President of the Civil Society Council of InvestChile. She has also been a regular columnist for El Mercurio, Chile’s leading national newspaper, since 2019.
Her leadership has earned her numerous national and international recognitions. She received the Avonni Award for Innovative Career (2023), the Women in Tech Global Award (2021), Globant’s Women That Build Award (2021), and was named ICT Woman of the Year by ACTI (2021). Earlier honors include the JK Visionaries Award from the Inter-American Development Bank (2020), the Influential Women Award by Caras Magazine (2018), and being listed among Chile’s 100 Leading Women multiple times.
