Mira Abou Hashem
Ahlan Simsim Regional Project Lead - MENA Region
Mira Abou Hashem is the Regional Project Lead for the Ahlan Simsim initiative at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in the Middle East and North Africa. She oversees multi-country programming in Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria, managing large-scale partnerships with Sesame Workshop, the LEGO Foundation, Bezos Family Foundation, and other donors to expand access to quality early childhood development (ECD) services.
In her role, Mira leads strategy design and systems integration efforts that embed ECD into national education, health, and protection systems, while also driving regional innovation in digital learning and caregiver support. She has played a key role in developing and scaling digital products, ensuring that evidence-based Arabic ECD content reaches families and frontline providers across diverse contexts.
With extensive experience in program leadership and cross-sectoral coordination, Mira is passionate about advancing holistic, play-based, and inclusive approaches to ECD. She is currently pursuing an MSc in Psychology at the University of Liverpool, with research interests spanning cognitive development, psychosocial well-being, and human resilience.
