Maryam Al-Kuwari
Student of International Relations and Politics of Qatar University
Qatar
Maryam graduated in International Relations and Politics at Qatar University. She enjoys this course because it looks in detail at key players in world politics, asking what the important ideas are and how we can resolve conflict and achieve cooperation. Her dream job would be in international business at the United Nations.
She describes herself as “a lover of wild places and the written word”. Her interests are exploring new countries and their museums, ancient history, film and photography, but her main interest is voluntary work. During the 2011 WISE Summit, Maryam had the opportunity to discuss education with high-level interviewees such as His Excellency Sheikh Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani, Ph.D., Chairman of the World Innovation Summit for Education; Professor Sheikha Abdulla Al-Misnad, President of Qatar University; and Jimmy Wales, Founder of Wikipedia.
Maryam has been interviewed by several British and French newspapers about her views on education in the Arab world. She also participated in a BBC talk show as a student from Qatar University, discussing how it has kept pace with development and progress in education.
Maryam’s motto for life is “act as if it were impossible to fail. With confidence, faith in God and learning we make the impossible possible”.
