Maha Haidar-Makki
Director, Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the American University of Beirut
Currently the Director of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the American University of Beirut, Maha is dedicated to Education and Inclusion in the context of Lebanon and developing countries. Her work focuses on innovative programming that facilitates access to education and promotes successful transitioning particularly for marginalized and minority youth. Maha has extensive experience in several school and university settings in Lebanon and the Arab countries where she had teaching, managerial, as well as advisory roles. Her academic background spans health sciences, education, and management. She holds a BS in Environmental Health, a Teaching Diploma and an MA in
Science Education from the American University of Beirut. She also holds an MBA from the Ecole Supérieure des Affaires. Maha is co-founder of Nudge Lebanon, a leading non-profit initiative aiming at applying behavioral sciences to public policy challenges. She served on the board of several Foundations and has co-founded Teach A Child, an NGO that strives to ensure that every child in Lebanon is given an education.
