Dr. Hessa Hamad Khalifa Al-Thani is the Chairperson and Founder of the Center of Wellbeing (Al Hayat Al Tayiba), which aims to build collective healing for individuals and institutions through advanced research, interventions, and consultation. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Sciences and has previously served as Dean of the College of Education at Qatar University.
Al-Thani is passionate about promoting holistic teaching, experiential learning, and methods related to institutional wellbeing. Her work focuses on learning guided by students’ interests, motivations, and diverse backgrounds. She is dedicated to adopting diversified approaches in curriculum transformation to create experiential, entrepreneurial, and collaborative learning environments.
She participates in university-wide projects to develop new teaching and learning methods, design educational programs, empower students and community members, and enhance family cohesion. Al-Thani has focused on initiating policies and programs that promote the wellbeing of families in Qatar, empower women, motivate children and youth, provide elderly care, and support individuals with special needs.
Through her professional affiliations with international organizations, Al-Thani’s expertise includes strategic planning, qualifications and academic accreditation, organizational restructuring, community engagement, and policy analysis. Her recent research has focused on student counseling, measuring wellbeing for young adults, and establishing holistic interventions and innovative programs that aim to develop responsible and engaged future citizens.
