Dr. Rayana Bou Haka

Dr. Rayana Bou Haka has served as the World Health Organization (WHO) Representative to the State of Qatar since June 2022. She joined WHO in 2000 and has since held several senior-level positions at WHO Headquarters, the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office in Cairo, and in Djibouti and Pakistan. Her responsibilities have included strategic planning, humanitarian preparedness and response, and development cooperation with the United Nations and other partners.

As the Desk Officer for Qatar based in Cairo from 2017 to 2022, she oversaw WHO’s collaborative programs with the State of Qatar. The WHO Country Office in Qatar was established in August 2022.

Prior to joining WHO, Dr. Bou Haka worked as a Consultant to the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) in Lebanon on the Primary Health Care Pilot Project, part of the World Bank–funded Health Sector Rehabilitation Project (HSRP), from June 1998 to August 2000.

She holds a Doctor of Medicine (1987), a Specialty Diploma in Pediatrics (1991), and a Master’s in Public Health (1992) from the American University of Beirut (AUB). She has over ten years of clinical experience as a pediatrician, as well as managerial experience as an Emergency Unit Physician at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) from 1991 to 1997.
