Dr. Ma has dedicated more than a decade to educational innovation through practice, research, and advocacy. She is the founder and principal of Beijing Agilearning School, which provides holistic, integrated learning experiences for children aged 6 to 15. At the core of the school’s philosophy are the values of authenticity, agility, and community well-being—principles she regards as essential for sustaining meaningful educational transformation.
Before founding her school, Dr. Ma led innovation initiatives at China’s 21st Century Education Research Institute, driving public engagement and advising policymakers. She played a pivotal role in several landmark projects, including the WISE-LIFE Forum (2016), the China LIFE Education Innovation Summit (2017), the Micro-School Association (2018), the Holistic Educator Prize (2016–2019), and the China Education Innovation Expo (2018–2021).
Dr. Ma has authored, edited, and translated numerous articles, policy reports, and books. She was invited by the Harvard Graduate School of Education to contribute to the “21st Century Teaching and Learning” research project and has shared her expertise as an education commentator on China Central Television (CCTV).
