Dr. Amal Khidir

Amal Khidir, MBBS, FAAP, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Assistant Dean for Faculty Development, Vice Chair of the IRB, and former Pediatric Clerkship Director (2008–2023), joined Weill Cornell Medicine–Qatar (WCM-Q) in 2006. She is an American Board-certified pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

She is a member of the Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics (COMSEP), where she co-led the Research and Scholarship Collaborative (2017–2022) and co-chaired the Annual Meeting Committee (2021–2022). She is also a member of the Academy for Professionalism in Health Care, co-chair of its Annual Meeting Committee, and a mentor for the Leadership Excellence in Education for Professionalism (LEEP) Fellows Program.

Dr. Khidir is a Certified Registered Reviewer for the National Committee for Qualifications and Academic Accreditation (NCQAA). She is also a member and the Academic and Planning Officer of the Association of Sudanese Professors in Qatar (ASPQ). She practices pediatrics in Qatar.

Areas of interest: medical education, professional development, professionalism, remediation, assessment, and cultural humility.

She is the co-founder of the Professionalism Program at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), through which more than 4,000 faculty, trainees, nurses, and pharmacists have participated. She has led and participated in over 55 peer-reviewed regional and international professional workshops and has received several teaching awards, including the COMSEP 2021 Research and Scholarship Award. She has been awarded research and CPD grants and has supervised learners in both clinical practice and research.

Dr. Khidir graduated from the University of Khartoum, Sudan. She completed her Pediatric Residency training at Howard University Hospital, Washington, D.C., and later joined the faculty as Pediatric Clerkship Director (2003–2006). She completed the Program for Educators in the Health Professions at the Harvard Macy Institute (2007) and earned both the LEEP Fellowship and the COMSEP COACH Certificate (2023).
