Dennis Mutiso is a seasoned programme leader and the Deputy Director at Girl Child Network (GCN), a prominent Kenyan non-profit dedicated to advancing the rights of children, youth, and women. Based in Nairobi, he has built a distinguished career focused on gender equality, inclusive education, disability rights, and rights-based community programming. His leadership is characterised by strategic programme design, strong policy influence, and the ability to cultivate partnerships across government, civil society, and development agencies to drive sustainable social change.
Dennis holds a Master of Arts, a Bachelor of Arts, and a Diploma from the University of Nairobi, grounding his expertise in social development and policy work.
In his current role at GCN, he oversees diverse portfolios including education, climate change adaptation, disability inclusion, community engagement, policy advocacy, and the organisation’s national programme strategy. His leadership ensures effective coordination, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives addressing systemic barriers faced by girls and vulnerable youth, especially those with disabilities.
Previously, Dennis served as Deputy Director of Programs and as Education Advisor. Across these roles, he has made significant contributions to national advocacy milestones, including reforms that support persons with disabilities, such as influencing the Persons with Disabilities Bill and strengthening Kenya’s inclusive education framework.
His areas of specialization include inclusive education for marginalized learners, disability rights and policy advocacy, strategic programme leadership, and gender-responsive youth development. Through his work, Dennis continues to champion inclusive systems, equitable opportunities, and rights-based development for underserved populations in Kenya.
