Alexandra Killham
Alexandra Killham is a dedicated music educator based in Doha, Qatar, specializing in classroom instruction within the British and IB systems. She has taught across the Middle East and Europe—including Qatar, Romania, and Kuwait—bringing a global perspective to her practice. Alexandra’s work spans from early years to primary education, where she has developed dynamic, culturally responsive music programs that foster creativity, performance, and critical engagement.
In Qatar, she currently leads the PYP music program at Qatar Academy Msheireb, designing curriculum, directing large-scale musical productions, and nurturing a post-pandemic culture of joyful performance. Previously, in Romania, she taught at the British School of Bucharest, where she created a More Able and Talented program and mentored AS-level students in their Extended Project Qualifications. Earlier, in Kuwait, she served as a music specialist at The English Academy and Cambridge English School, where she also worked as a vocal and performance coach for senior students, preparing them for stage performances and public events.
Alongside her classroom teaching, Alexandra is an accomplished piano instructor, training students for ABRSM examinations with consistently excellent results. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in critical pedagogy and anti-racist practice, informed by her graduate research in curriculum studies at the University of New Brunswick and her undergraduate work in Social Anthropology and Music at Dalhousie University. Alexandra continues to explore ways to make music education inclusive, empowering, and culturally relevant across diverse learning environments.
