John Yeo teaches the Master and Leadership programs at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Within the Curriculum and Teaching academic group, he specializes in creative thinking, curriculum design, teachers’ professional learning, and authentic assessment. As an author and co-editor of several books such as Mastering the Art of Authentic Assessment, Sustainable School Reform through Lesson Study for Learning Community, and other publications, he engages administrators and teacher leaders with dialogue on educational issues including curriculum innovation and designing for 21st-century teaching and learning.
Recognized for his work in creativity and lesson study, he has been invited to speak in China, India, Japan, the Philippines, Russia and the United States since 2009. Under the Ministry of Education (MOE, Singapore), he has been on several committees that have championed national curriculum reviews, namely Curriculum 2015 (2007-2009), Project Work (2007-2010), the Social Studies Syllabus Development Committee (2009) and other inter-agency planning teams such as the Interactive Digital Media Taskforce (2007-2008) and Innolab (2008-2009). For his efforts to inspire and build capacity in creativity and innovation within the MOE, he received the Public Service Outstanding Activist Award 2009. At NIE, he has also been on the Critical and Inventive Thinking Taskforce (2011-2013) and served as the Curriculum Consultant for the MOE Innovation Program (2012-2013) under the Gifted Education Branch. In 2013 he received the Excellence in Teaching, Nanyang Education Award.
