Victoire Nahimana

Mrs. Victoire Nahimana is currently Director General of Pedagogic Boards. She got to that position after a long and progressive job experience in the Ministry of Education. She was first a high school teacher, then she became Pedagogic Advisor. After that, she was appointed Advisor to the cabinet of the minister and later she was nominated as Inspector, the position she held before the present one of Director General of Pedagogic Boards.  

As Director General of Pedagogic Boards, she coordinates and supervises the design and development of school programs and teaching materials, the development of pedagogical and methodological strategies for formal education, the piloting of the organization of teacher training, the development of the production and distribution plan for pedagogical tools, the development of communication channels for the teaching service, and the implementation of pedagogical innovations. 

Among other responsibilities, Mrs. Victoire Nahimana is the United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative (UNGEI) Deputy Chairperson, Education in Human Rights focal point, HIV/AIDS focal point, Chairperson of the national committee piloting Fundamental School, Burundi IFADEM coordinator (Initiative francophone pour la formation à distance des maîtres), member of the national committee for the fight against violence to women, and she is responsible for the quality component.

Mrs. Victoire Nahimana holds a Licence (Bachelor’s degree) in French Language and Literature. She has also attended a lot of training sessions overseas, such as training (organized by BIE-UNESCO) on curriculum analysis and innovation for the fight against poverty in sub-Saharan Africa, training (organized by Organisation internationale de la Francophonie, OIF) on content and pedagogical approaches for education to citizenship, training (organized by OIF and Agence universitaire de la Francophonie, AUF) on basic and ongoing teacher training – including long-distance training, training (organized by OIF) on the approach by competence, and training (organized by UNICEF) on the “School, Child’s Friend” approach.
