This initiative is part of the 2018-19 WISE Accelerator Cohort.

What they do

Uptale is a French startup that offers software-as-a-service platform to enable creators to imagine, build, publish and monitor immersive learning experiences using Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technology. Uptale allows anyone, without any technical background or prior training, to create gamified interactive VR and AR learning content and publish it using the Uptale platform. Over 220 companies and universities use Uptale’s technology.

Why it matters

In 2015, U.S. corporations alone spent $180 billion on training and education. The Harvard Business review pointed out in 2016 that despite the huge investment, most companies are unable to transfer employee learning into changes in individual and organization behavior or improved financial performance. Technologies have a major role to play in Learning and Education if they succeed to adapt to the best way the brain learns in order to have sustainable impact. One of them seems particularly efficient: Virtual Reality. It enables strong level of attention, interactivity, fun, sense stimulation, realistic simulations and therefore outstanding learner’s knowledge retention.

Tractions so far

Uptale built a Software-as-a-Service platform to enable creators to imagine, build, publish and monitor immersive learning experiences without a line of Code. Learners can live powerful pedagogical experiences with any VR headset or on any smartphone, PC, tablet from a single URL. In the long run, Uptale aims to use the most advanced tech & neuroscience discoveries to help humans acquire knowledge & skills. In the short un, Uptale is working on building the VR platform that truly supports teaching and learning.
