Dr. Nayla Zreik Fahed

CEO, Lebanese Alternative Learning

Lebanon

Nayla Zreik Fahed holds a PhD in 18th century French literature. Her interests focus on bilingualism and its implications for learning and teaching. After volunteering in hospitals to teach children with cancer, Nayla turned to developing solutions to school dropout. This led to the creation, with several colleagues, of the e-learning platform Tabshoura, and the founding of the Lebanese Alternative Learning NGO (LAL) in December 2013. The Syrian refugee crisis raised the crucial emergency need to develop creative and efficient ways to help refugee children adapt to the Lebanese education system. She resigned from her teaching position at Saint Joseph University in August 2016 to devote herself fully to LAL’s mission.
