Ms Anna Penido
Anna Penido is currently the director of the Inspirare Institute, a non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire innovation to improve the quality of education in Brazil. She has a bachelor’s degree in communications with emphasis in journalism and a specialization in social management for development, both from the Federal University of Bahia. In 1998, Anna was a fellow in the Human Rights Advocates Training Program at Columbia University. In 2011, she was a partner in the Harvard Advanced Leadership Initiative at Harvard University.
Earlier in her career, Anna worked as a freelance reporter for the newspaper Correio da Bahia, and the magazines Veja Bahia and Vogue. She worked for the Odebrecht Foundation and the Arts and Crafts Lyceum of Bahia. From 1999 to 2007, Anna founded and directed the non-governmental organization CIPÓ - Interactive Communication. From 2007 to 2010, she was the chief of the Unicef field office for São Paulo and Minas Gerais states. Anna was named an Ashoka Fellow in 2001.
